When a Person Has a Problem With Hemorrhoids
by Jarl Jacobsen
When a person has a problem with hemorrhoids, they may have to figure out a way to take care of the problem. This may be something that will not go away on its own and it will require some help from alternative methods. For most people, hemorrhoids will go away and it will not cause any further irritations to the person.
Usually hemorrhoids do not require treatment unless they are causing terrible symptoms. Taking stool softeners and laxatives will help this type of problem. These things may help relieve straining when it comes time to bowel movements. These symptoms can sometimes be taken care of by sitting in warm water. Squatting in a partially filled tub or using a container filled with warm water placed on the toilet accomplishes the soaking.
When a person has bleeding hemorrhoids they can be treated with an injection of a substance that causes the hemorrhoids to become scarred with scar tissue. This is a procedure that is called injection sclerotherapy.
Large internal hemorrhoids and those that do not clear up from the injections, can be tied off with rubber bands. The band is what caused the hemorrhoid to fall off without pain. The treatment is usually applied to one hemorrhoid at a time at intervals of two weeks or so. Internal hemorrhoids may be destroyed with a laser or infrared light or electrical current.
Some of the internal hemorrhoids are removed by tying them off with rubber bands as an outpatient procedure. The rubber band will cut off the hemorrhoid supply of blood and this will cause it to come off without pain in a few short days.
If nothing else works, it will then be necessary for surgery to happen in order to remove the hemorrhoids. This may be very painful but it will take care of the problem. When a hemorrhoid with a blood clot causes pain, it is treated with warm water and local anesthetic ointments. Witch hazel compresses will help relieve pain and take care of the swelling after a short time.
The blood clot will usually disappear after about six weeks or so. When the pain is really severe with hemorrhoids, a doctor may cut the vein and remove the clot altogether. This procedure will help to relive the pain almost immediately.
There is defiantly help out there for any type of hemorrhoid problem. There is no reason why a person should have to deal with this kind of discomfort and can life a happy and healthy life with a few simple things that anyone can do at home. You do not have to just live with the pain and the suffering anymore.
